You and I……and a mermaid, a witch, a robot, a drag-king, a cornfield, and really hot guy.

Miss GaGa’s new video is upon us, which apparently is derived from the relationship between her and Luc Carl.  Her main squeeze for the past 6 years or so.  Now I honestly have no idea who this Luc boy is and really have no interest in knowing.  And by the looks of this video there is no real way in coming up with a real story between these two people.  Nonetheless we get another cinematic vision to a song in which GaGa calls “one of the best songs she’s ever written.”  The song is a bluesy, odd-ball, country-twangish ballad with production credits due to Mutt Lange.  Who is famous with his work with rock band Queen, among many others.  Now the song is one thing, very “we will rock you!” but the visual is a whole other thing.  We got a robotic GaGa, wearing her best wicked witch of Nebraska garb, trekking through cornfields to find her love.  We have an Elizabethan GaGa in a farm house tied down to a moving gurney having some sort of sexual surgery before being tossed in a water tank.  GaGa’s alter ego, mermaid YuYi making her long awaited appearance.  Also making a live-action appearance was Jo Calderone, who is GaGas drag-king alter ego.  And I thought Sasha Fierce was annoying!  But the best scene of all is dominatrix, teal haired GaGa making all sorts of sexual choreography actually work in a barn house ballad.  Now if you wanted to come across with a straight laced story about two lovebirds then think again, GaGa don’t play like that.  Definitely the best video of the “Born This Way” era.

Album: Teenage Dream. Artist: Katy Perry. Stars: 6/10

Miss Katy Perry drops a new album this week, just yesterday to be exact, and I can already bring you a review for her tribute to all things juvenile.  On Teenage Dream, Katy’s second album, she references everything from threesomes, blacking out, losing her virginity, coke snorting x-boyfriends and of course those popsicle melting, daisy-duke wearing, “California Gurls.”  Now I must admit, I started this second phase of Katy off very much not wanting to like her.  I can’t help but compare her to my top picks in the pop music spectrum and yeah she sang about kissing a girl and waking up in Vegas but of course she did.  She had to!  For a newbie in this landscape of steady mainstays like Britney and Beyonce or out of control creative like the lady that is GaGa, the Mormon girl had to shock and awe.  Now here we are two years later and her first single, the Snoop assisted “California Gurls” was a chart smash.  The video, a salute the game Candyland, also garnered a lot of attention.  As I can proudly say, I lived in California for several years so I became fond of the song.  A cute introduction for an album that thankfully isn’t so sweet all the way through.  Second single, “Teenage Dream,” another cute, euphoric track that I think is a far more relatable song that will resonate with teens all across America, namely those not from California.  A more pop/rock song “Circle the Drain,” has Katy deepening her voice to a heavy guitar riff, bashing a former lover for his drug dependency.

Over all, a solid sophomore effort that I am sure will spawn a couple more memorable pop hits.  Favorite track: “Firework.”  Album:  Teenage Dream.  Artist:  Katy Perry.  Stars:  6/10.

Emmy fashion roundup!

This past Sunday were the Emmy awards and of course I had my eyes glued on all the red carpet hits and misses.  Some I thought got it right, some I thought looked really stupid, and some I’m still thinking, what the hell was she doing there!  Ummmmm Stephanie Pratt, Lo Bosworth?

Instead of spewing a bunch of non-constructive criticism, I’m just gonna choose a best & worst dressed.  Keeping it simple.

Jennifer Carpenter from Dexter

Claire Danes

My top choice for best dressed came down to two ladies, Claire Danes and Jennifer Carpenter.  I really wasn’t trying to go with the obvious choice in Claire Danes since every news and entertainment outlet picked her as well, but she really did look stunning.  I’m not sure any girl can ever really go wrong with Armani Prive.  Now I hate to be mean to J.C. because in all honesty I don’t think she is that pretty of a girl, but on Emmy night she rose to the occasion.  I doubt asymmetrical/one-shoulder dresses will ever go out of style.  I’m loving the color and the hair style.

Now, my worst dressed also came down to two ladies.  First, Padma Lakshmi.  Some others placed her on the best dressed lists, but from her unkempt hair, distracting, tribal necklace and I must add, her annoying laughter after winning with Top Chef.  She just didn’t do it for me.  Oh yeah and her dress was blah.  Now my second choice almost went to Lo Bosworth because whoever told her to show up looking like an extra from Mad Men, should be fired.  But Rita Wilson really just jumped the gun on being the pretty wife of uber-famous Tom Hanks, to cray cray in the fashion brain.  Crystals that dangle everywhere, and a hair-do to match her character in that one movie she did, Now & Then.  I’m just, really over her.  Never really adored her or hated her, now I’m just over it really.

Not Top dressed host for Top Chef

Rita Wilson

I have to give a shout out to Neil Patrick Harris and his man just cause they look mighty fine.  My honorable mention for the Emmys goes to Eva Amurri, who is styled by the cute, gorgeous and sexy Brad Goreski of Rachel Zoe Project fame.  I wish she were more famous or something cause seriously “I Could DIE!!!!!” for her look! Amaze!

Manga*brit!

So here are two of the beautifully inspired cover shots of Brit on POP magazine!  Im not sure if these are Japanese exclusive covers or if they are going to be printed like this internationally.  But one thing is for sure, 私が愛していること!! (“I’m loving it!” in japanese people.)

The last time around that Brit did promo for her “Circus” album her styling in editorials was relegated to simple, sweet yet chic looks.  Like I said before, I think its time for Brit to bust out some fantasy fashion and embrace pop music as she is doing in POP magazine.  Only makes sense…riiiight?

Back to blogging!

So it’s been a super long time since I last blogged and with the help of my Omega girls I’ve been inspired to start again. Nothing spectacular, maybe just a little bit further insight on everything Ceez.  Expect a lot of Britney and anything associated with pop music/culture.  And speaking of crazy & Britney, she just announced that she is going to be gracing the cover of POP magazine! I couldn’t be more excited. POP is a British fashion magazine and is known for more avant-garde editorials.  Hopefully this is a sign of a more fashion forward Brit to come.  Fingers crossed!

No, that's not Brit, it's Kate.

LovEvolution 2009

Love.  Music.  Dance.  Three things you were definitely surrounded by if you attended LoveFest 2009, otherwise known as LovEvolution.  Held on October 3rd and starting off with a parade of deejay manned floats flanked with scantily clad dancers (guys and girls).  It is an annual downtown dance party that originated in Berlin, now in its sixth year.  I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the first year that SF started hosting it and it has changed so much since then.  The parade route has changed and so has the location but the event itself has basically stayed the same.  People from all over the world coming together to enjoy the music, dance their butts off and love.  Love in a sense that you’re just taking pleasure in the emotions that you get from music and dancing.  There are some naysayers out there who get annoyed of the traffic that the parade causes and the presence of minors because it is an all age event.  Even still, this event is meant for people that can ignore those nuances for just a day and bask in the universal pleasure of music.  I certainly did.

VERSACE

You can never go wrong with Versace.  Ever since Gianni introduced us to the super luxe life and Amazonian supermodels, I have been a Versace die-hard.  I’ll admit, I was too young to realize the importance of what Gianni was doing in the fashion industry, but Versace the name and the brand have somehow always struck a chord throughout my life.  My mother was a pretty fashionable lady so I’m sure she had a bit part in introducing me to high-end designers.  I know I saw more than one silk, printed blouse with the giant medusa head everywhere in her closet.  Of course, his death was also a moment I will never forget.  Especially the images of the bloodied side walk in front of his Miami mansion.  It wasn’t until my junior year in high school that I started paying more attention to the Versace brand in a design aspect.  Of course by this time Donatella had already come into play and the look was modernizing.  Besides the tragedy, controversy and fickle fashion industry, Versace has remained relevant and is still providing us with some of the most amazing fashion moments of every season.  It stays true to the strong, sexy, power driven woman that launched this house into celebrity status.  The trends change but the message stays the same, and that is why Versace is my favorite designer.

“It’s the end of the world as we know it…”

2012

Directed by Roland Emmerich

Roland Emmerich, director of “Independence Day,” brings us another apocalyptic feature that really tops his past work.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t top it off in a good way.  Now, I’m all about movies that are carried by computer animation.  I mean, “Transformers” part one and two, hello?  You don’t sit through that waiting for a wedding scene between Shia and Megan.  The CGI is just so amazing that the story might not matter all that much.  In “2012” the story is what got in the way for me.  Watching the world crumble and deteriorate is actually kind of cool.  Its also kind of cool to see what the government might do if we were ever pressed with idea that the end was near.  But the way the human story was interlaced with the obliteration of earth got too cheesy.  The cast itself was good to my standards.  Lead by John Cusack, a down on his luck writer that works as a limo driver part time, Amanda Peet, his ex-wife with whom he has two children with, and Danny Glover, the President.  Without giving away too much, what I did not like was the obvious misuse of coincidence that was woven throughout the film.  The movie was more comedy for me rather than thrilling.  I had to hold back a couple of hard laughs here and there.  I’m a believer in dreams coming true and miracles taking place, but when faced with the confrontation of the destruction of earth, lets be honest.  There would be no laughs coming out of the theatre.  As I did come out of the theatre though I tried to convince myself that the movie wasn’t all that bad and that I was being too harsh since I already knew what to expect given the previews.  But that just wasn’t the case, I did not like it and “2012” will most likely not end up in my DVD collection.

Watch me on my Videophone

Beyonce jumps on the GaGa bandwagon for her newest single “Videophone.”  An extended remix featuring the “Bad Romance” singer featured on her “I am…Sasha Fierce (deluxe edition)” album.  The music video is a far jump, stylistically, from all other videos on said album.  Starting off with an homage to ‘Reservoir Dogs,’ Beyonce struts her sexy hips down a street with an entourage of sexy suited men ushering into a spastic collage of Beyonce in all sorts of Sasha Fierce worthy attire.  The fashion, like the Hype Williams directed video, is kaleidoscopic.  Shaking her bootylicious booty, and grasping her boobylicious boobs ‘Videophone’ is Sasha at her raunchiest.  See through plastic bras; butt baring Betty Paige shorts, firework shooting, and neon guns.  Not to mention the scantily clad, masked men.  Oh, and Lady GaGa is in it.  Disappointingly enough, she decided to pay homage to B, therefore playing down her true persona and leaving not enough to the imagination.  The video is fun for eye-candy pop but lacks the creativity that landed “Single Ladies” its icon status.

RED

What is it about the color red?  Why does it bring that fiery force out of us? Why does it press passion upon our hearts?  Does it really make us hungry?  Why is it the definition of mad and embarrassed?  Can it really be that a color can evoke so much emotion from a person?  Or why can’t love be purple?  Or passion be green?  Has corporate America and grade school color standards taken over our ability to correlate colors to our emotions?
